The old sickle mower does a pretty good job especially for
having a wore out sickle in it . The grasshoppers really did a
lot of damage.

Sorry to hear about grasshopper damage. I stirred up a few while mowing some second cutting here yesterday. It does look like you need new knives on your sicklebar. Do you ever have trouble with grass hanging on those long guard bolts ? I usually use guard bolts just long enough for the nut without extra threads showing or else grass would hang up on the bolts. Maybe not as much of an issue in your dryer climate?

I bought a bunch of sections on clearance should last a few years usually get two or 3 years out of set then swap the whole knife out . If you happen a long this way I would buy a few more if you have em the John Deere hold up a little better than the cheap ones what I really need to do is modify my skid shoes so the bar isnt running in the dirt all the time

This part of the field usually yields 1.5 ton the acre the grasshoppers ate it down didnt even yield 1/2 a ton to the acre this year

Great job finding young help with stacking. I was able to find better help this year then in the last 10 years. But still only found 3 guys. And each was less then half my age. But at least they were cheerful and showed up wearing gloves and long sleeves and ready to work.
Wowzer!!

Thats a good looking old dodge truck you got there . I really like the little bales for some things but they are so much work especially by yourself and its impossible it seems to find anyone who wants to show up twice after they see how much work it really is .
