Helping the hay feild

As i work my way thru the 2nd cutting of hay im noticing some parcels (my own and customers) that need some attention. So Im wondering what any of you do to try and perk up an older stand you may have...
I currently am trying to rotate 10-15% at a time. I have been toying with the idea of taking the triple K in and lightly breaking up the sod and planting either Red top clover or triticale just to help for a year or two.. then it will get sprayed, and plowed out and reseeded to alfalfa..

so tell me what you guys do..

Thanks

I ran the lely 3 times over some old pasture I cut for hay drilled some clover alfalfa and dryland grass clover and alfalfa came pretty decent wish I had drilled out the big box on the clover because it feeds better my small box doesn’t work right . Tried drilling some triticale in that field last fall and i think the grass crowed it out

Im really leaning towards trying some crimson clover on one of my own parcels. Ive got a small 3 acre parcel im going to take the 6ft rotovator to this fall and try some spring seeded triticale in as an experiment.

I planted about 5 different varieties of clover I think crimson was one and landike and alsike if I remember right can’t remember the name of the mix

Crimson Clover in my area will over Winter then start to grow early Spring, bloom late May and dead by July might not be what you want for hay.Used mostly for a soil improvement plant.
