Hay crop .... business math question ......

Looking for some opinions for what you would consider a fair deal from a small hay field operation. Say that you had about 20 acres of good hay on your own property. You make an agreement with a local cattle farmer to take all the hay ..... here's how it works ....

1)You cut the hay crop
2)Cattle farmer rakes it and bales it into large round bales.
3)Cattle farmer moves it off your property for his own use.

Assuming there are different ways of doing it, what sort of deal would you consider fair? Obviously, the end result would be some money in your pocket based on some kind of agreement.

I have neighbor that cuts hay for me occasionally furnishing tractor, cutter, fuel & driver that charges me $30 per hr which BTW I think is not enough compensation but that's what he wanted.

I have 10acres of Coastal-Bermuda grass that I fertilize weed and keep up field. I have a Man that cuts bales/rolls and sells and we split the money 50-50. Since you Cut Maybe a good split would be 60-40. You would just need to agree on a fair price for a roll of hay and do the math.

It's been well over 40 years since we've put up any hay on shares, but when we did, we did everything including putting the hay in the barn and we took 2/3.

We are currently working a deal with an old friend of the family.. his ground, he waters it, he fertilizes it.. we cut rake and bale.. we are talking 50/50.. I'll probably buy his 1/2.. IM hoping this will get my foot in the door to rent the ground from him in the future..
