Looking for help/advice on johnson grass

Afternoon all!
So, I've been working to reclaim an abused
hay field and have a pretty nice stand of
orchard grass. Unfortunately, I get
occasional stands of johnson grass emerge.
I'm guessing it gets introduced from the
haying equipment. That aside, I've been
attacking spots with round up but I'm
looking for any better way.
Any and all experience and advice is
appreciated on the best way to nuke the
invader w/o trashing everything around it.
TIA

If it's a hay field, I wouldn't worry much about it. The only time it causes issues is grazing, and then only in specific/uncommon situations.
There's no way to get rid of it without killing everything around it, and even then it'll come back.

I fear that is the final answer. The field
had been really, really beaten up and it's
taking a while to recover. It's being used
for cattle feed so really not an issue
except in my mind. I appreciate the
reality check. It's easy to go down a
rabbit hole.

If its in a pasture usually its the first thing cows and goats will graze down but as said under the right drought conditions or after a frost it can be an issue, cut and dried for hay no problem.BTW headed your way tomorrow down toward Buena Vista to pick up a tractor,South of Vesuvius.
