Hope you have made it through the winter Ok and your feed supplies will see you through.

I think we'll make it alright. It's not gonna be razor thin, but I won't have a big supply of hay left either. I can turn 60 feeders out on pasture in May and a fair number in the finishing pen will be gone by then,so the silage and corn situation should be OK too. I've got enough hay top get the cows through until I have pasture again.

Thanks for asking.

Glad to hear you are doing better. I know last year was a tough crop year and remember you posting a while back about cutting down on your cattle numbers to be sure to make it through winter with what feed you had. Maybe we will have an early spring, that would help get the grass going in the pastures.

So how's everybody else doing? I know feed is short in a lot of parts of the country. I see round bales advertised on CL every day,but it seems like the ads don't stay up very long. A guy stopped in a month or more ago asking me if I had enough. He said he'd sold all of his,but another guy had just sold his dairy cattle and had 150 bales he could spare.

There is a good supply of round bales and especially round bale silage here in upstate NY due to the number of people exiting the dairy farming business. If it wasn?t for that I think it would be a real short supply of feed about now. I do all square bales to sell and am close to sold out . I have noticed the square bale price is creeping up around here so I imagine that the supply is getting low.
