On our itsy farm, we had a very successful year - in spite of early continuous rain and a drought that set in for the summer after first cutting.

In preview - not sure all pics uploaded, if not - I'll reply with more pics...

A few pics and a video...

Hay Update 2019

Nice pics. I don't know if I'm all done with everything for the year or not. I finished picking corn on the 21st. I'd like to bale some stalks, but it warmed up and all the frost went out of the ground. We got a lot of rain so it's just a muddy mess again. I'm assuming I'm done, but I'd drop in a draw pin and get out there again if we get froze up again without any snow.

Yea, I don?t think I saw that much sun all summer as I saw in this thread! Looks so nice. We had a crappy year here in Minnesota for weather.

See a lot of metal racks like that, but haven?t seen many wood racks with the side openings and no braces, I don?t know how you keep the racks from spreading the sides out.

The wooden racks spread, but we try to limit that by tying a 1/4-3/8 rope across the deck between the racks on each side of the opening about waist high. That seems to hold them together. I'm going to be doing some reinforcing on some of these racks over the winter - it's on my round-to-it list...

Great pictures Bill, and I like your new barn.

Thought I'd throw in one of my own pictures.First cutting orchard grass baled 5/30/2019.

Often thought about getting a thrower wagon or 2 so I could bale without help. For now we bale directly onto wagon. (usually not this big a load!)

I grew up with thrower balers with dad then later in life I went from thrower to bale basket wagons, loved them. way less issues than the thrower made.
