Dose anyone have any experience with a Waynes ( 4 inch 4 ft ) mounted tile plow , how hard do they pull, I pull 7 16's easily with my versatile, I am thinking it should handle it but I could be wrong . Thanks Bryan

My neighbor has a tile plow. 4" and 6" boots. A 8420 JD will barely pull it. And that is making multiple passes. Has a quad trac Case IH on it now. Has a track hoe to pull it thru the bad places. Also has a gps base station for sub inch passes. But is really fast way to tile.

Depends a lot on your soil type/conditions, and depth you have to get to on your runs. How big of a Versy? Neighbor pulls a mounted 4? with a 4586 IH with a 855 Cummins repower and 8 nearly new radials and there are times they hook a dozer on to the front of it. Perfect conditions they can pre-rip about half the depth and it will put the pipe in itself on the next run. That being said, I and a neighbor put in 50 acres with that plow on behind a 1066 IH running the 3 pt and a 7080 allis chalmers cabled to the plow. Did have a dozer hooked to that line once or twice too. Not the best way to lay tile.

after just recently having some tile run would never even think about doing it that way. his huge machine was down twice till he cabled to his big excavator then went thru like butter. will be doing more hopefully next week, really goes in easy and quick if don't hit the wet holes on surface. I would never want to do it the way you are thinking, but that's me.
