Planting corn with a broadcast spreader

I'm planning on using my broadcast spreader to plant some corn for the deer. I've got about five acres worked up. My question is how deep to plant it and how to get it there. I've got a disc, a drag, a cultivator and a cultipacker. Does anyone have any advice. Going to use roundup ready corn.

You will not be happy with the job regardless. If you do so, get the cheapest seed corn you can and live with the results.

Disc the area, spread seed, disc lightly, cultipack. If hogs and other critters find it you will loose lots of seed. Should get enough come up for a food plot.

Corn seed should be planted at a depth of about 1 inch. If discing it in, I guess shoot for about 1 inch of cover. Corn kind of needs a buddy. Should end up thick enough for stalks to not be all that far apart.

Wont work, to get it at least 1in deep will probably cover it too much.
Get a 1 or 2 row planter and SPRAY!!!
I no/min till corn 1.5 - 2 in deep to get a decent stand. Fertilizer is a must to make grain. I have to spray at least twice to keep weeds out so NewIdea sheller will shell it clean enough.
I assume your goal is to provide a food source for deer. In my experience, broadcast corn will not make any grain.
JMHO!

Seed corn for grain is $250-$300 a bag and plants 2 1/2 acres. 2" deep to get it in moisture. For your purpose plants are 4-5" apart....if in 30" rows. I'd try to find or borrow a corn planter to have a good outcome. Round-up ready seed will make it easy to keep clean.

Well I finally got my corn planted. After reading all your replies I hunted around to borrow a planter and found a retired neighbor with a JD 2 row planter. He was nice enough to come over to my place and plant it for me. He had a 190 or 290 planter in real nice shape and it worked flawlessly. So now I just need rain. Thank you all for your input!!!!!
