So howz the spring plowing coming Randy?? Dad always said if you could plow down snow it was as good as fertilizer. Got enough here for 200 bu corn. If I only could get the plow loose from where it is frozen down. I tried to break one loose a few years ago that I had sold. Bumped it with a loader tractor and broke ALL the moldboards. Somethings shouldn't be rushed. Al

I tried to move the corn drag to another crib yesterday and that darned thing is froze down. Looks like I'll be shoveling or opening another crib. This cold and snow is dragging on way too long for me. Tennessee is sure looking good to me this morning.

I have a pen that has a couple dry jerseys in it. They always stand in the same spot to eat reaching through a gate with a feeder built into it. From standing and eating hour after hour there is a pile of frozen cow poo behind them like the great pyramids. Its tall enough that its half way to its source of supply. I am not sure I have seen manure freeze this tight for this long. There is absolutely no way I could touch it with a skid steer. I know when it starts to thaw I will have feeders up to there knees for a day or two until I can get everybody cleaned up. I try to clean every other, or third week this time of year depending on when it thaws. I cleaned the second week of January. I too am getting worn out on cold. Bring on the global warming. Al

I remember a winter 25 years or so ago when it was super cold a snowy,I had a situation like that. I had a couple of those straight fenceline feeder panels separating some bred heifers from open heifers. I was dropping round bales between them so they could eat out of each side. Things were froze up and piled up so bad that they were just walking right over it like it wasn't even there. So much for keeping them separated.

Yeah, got rid of the dairy cows and was going to just raise the young stock, then my uncle called saying he couldn't handle having cattle any more so he gave me his 16 red and white Hereford cows.
