Johnson grass

I'm in the South, Midwest. Not yet but got some rain last couple of days and if Aug is wet then yes. Been really dry and clay soil is doing it's best but there is a limit.

It will but it takes a while, I'd don't have a crimper but I do run a tedder thru mine to break up the stems.
Baled 2 fields of second cutting with some Johnson Grass in it last week, cows love it as long as it's not to stemmy.

When I retired I downsized from a JD 1209 (9') swather to a 6' drum having no crimping function. I had a tedder and found that unless I was running
heavy sorghum-sudan, where I used an old IH 404 crimper, running the tedder at PTO rpms did a nice job of cracking stems and allowing for fast drying
without the necessity of crimping. Folks usually don't mention that attribute when using their tedder.

Yes. Good thing about dry weather baling is that the stems are pretty much dry already, unlike trying to bale winter cover crops in the spring.
