some tillage radish's have started to rot, they smell like garbage for the most part. I hand seeded clover, radish and oats between corn stalks along the creekbank at home in mid july. I did this for 12 rows a total of little more than an acre. I did this to build up the soil and to help hold it when the floods come and they will come. It was a bit of a chore to do this since I basically could only seed 30 inches at a time, but Im pleased with what turned out. I wish I could find a better way to seed into corn.

They are some stinking rascals! How big did they get? I have some three inches in diameter and twelve to forteen inches long...

i pulled out a few of them,2 of them were 18 inches with 11 of that being in the ground, I was surprised by how much of the radish is exposed. The other ones were around a foot long, didnt measure around but theyre probably 2-3 inches in most cases. Probably averaging out around 14 inches in length, pretty neat. The ones I drilled after wheat are the same size. I hope they help mellow out my creek bank soil.

Oh Ya J, you will be surprised how much they mellow the ground. I have finally made up my mind to plant some in my growing wheat this spring, about 3lbs to the acre and let them go to seed and see if the combine won't blow them out for me.

Erik, they run about $3.30 a lb. They recomend 10lbs. to the acre. I bought 50 lbs last spring and broadcast 25 lbs into a half acre. In the spring they go to seed and lots of seed. I used my all crop to harvest them with, but as usual I kind of screwed up and did not have the correct final screen, but now that I have made the mistakes I think I will do good next year. Even with the roots not getting as deep in the spring, I was amazed how it mellowed the ground.
