Here are some pics I took today while checking on the irrigation I started yesterday. I thought I would post it up on this site because down here in Southern California people just don't seem to appreciate any type of ranch or farm work. I know my furrows aren't the best. However it was my first time discing then making furrows with our Ford Powermaster and it was very satisfying. These are from my family farm which at one time sold to Kern Fruit Company who had a packing house right across the street. Now due to age, time, the economy, etc... we have downsized. My goal is to give my Grandparent's several good seasons of fruit before we possibly sell. Feel free to post up your recent work.

Pink Grapefruit & Oranges (Those are old furrows so it's a mess.)

Well that horrible view of some house use to be about 100 acres or potatoes....so much for "progress".

(quoted from post at 22:04:31 08/08/10) that is an interesting way to irrigate. What typ of soil is that , it looks like silt sand.

You know, I really don't know what specific type of soil we have out here. I'm sure my Grandfather would know. As for the irrigation that is pretty old school I guess. We use to have our water gravity fed through old cement pipes which had flumes come up every ten feet or so. Now we use a mix of PVC, aluminum, and old cement pipe to do the job.
