Can you tell me how to change the front and rear main seals and is there a tool avalible to pull out the old and install the new seals

A sad but common... fact? co-incidence? Is that if the front and rear main seals are bad, it is probably because the front and rear main bearings are bad. There is some good news! In order to ger the seals out, you have to have the whole engine appart enough to replace the bearing too... kind of a hollow ring to it I know...

REally depends on the make and model. Sometimes if they are two half circle felt seals they can be slid around the crank and not have to take alot apart. However if it is on a farmall A,B,C for example to replace the front seal you have to pretty much disassemble the front end of the tractor. So there are alot of possibilities. I would have to respectfully disagree that if the seal are bad, so are the bearings because seals can dry out from sitting too long and crack or burn up shortly after starting up, but as long as you are in there they should be checked anyway. keep us posted
