2n rearend oil spec. and capacity

Aside from the engine, there is only one sump on a Ford 2N. The sump serves the transmission, differential and hydraulic system, and has a nominal capacity of five gallons.

Ford originally specified GL-1 (not GL-5) 90W for use in this sump but now specifies the much more modern CNH 134D, which provides much superior performance in cold weather.

I use the 134. Only fill until oil comes out the lower hole on the round access plates on the side of the differential housing. Over filling only adds to oily brakes.

"134D, which provides much superior performance in cold weather."

And is also MUCH "leakier" in WARM weather!

"Ford M2c-134D"

NO such thing as "FORD" tractor stuff anymore.

It's now FIAT (dba New Holland)!

And, you don't need to go and pay stealership prices for oil. MOST (if not all) UTF (Universal Tractor Transmission and Hydraulic Fluild sold at farm supply stores and even WaldoWorld meets the "134" spec.. Read the label to be sure.

Well since no one else told you you need 5gal. It takes just a tad less if I remember right. You have 3 drain plugs and only the single fill plug because the transmission/hyds/rear end are all one common sump
