Capacitor Motor gave up.

Murphy called in,, yesterday my 1.5kw single phase 1410rpm capacitor motor was working well, today I turned it on, built up a few revs then the safety switch cut in, it refused to keep going although I tried twice same result.
Any comments as to possible cause would be appreciated. Could it be a faulty capacitor?TIA.

Would rather think it is a bad start switch.

The first thing I did on no start motors was to clip a test capacitor across the motors cap.Capacitors do store a charge so be careful.Motors that have excessive end play can fail to close the start switch,Either problem can smoke the motor if you are not there to catch it.

Capacitor Motor gave up.
