Pole Barn Kits?

So who"s got the best deal on a good pole barn kit. I"m in east Kentucky and I"ve found this place, about 2 hours from the farm. Best deal so far. Any more suggestions?? I"m looking at a few different sizes, but I"m leaning towards the 30"x56"x12". Thanks, Casey.

Pole Barn Kits with prices.

Several people I know, including 2 other lumber companies, recomended Grahams lumber. I called them and the prices have changed very little if at all, maybe just a few dollars on some kits. I've got a Carter's about 2 hours away as well, but they are a little higher. I didn't know if I should be looking anywhere else or not.

So true. When I was getting ready to build our new shop, I had Carter do one of their plans. I looked at it and nothing was to code. I questioned the salesman and he stated that they didn't know code, they just use the computer to put together a plan so they could sell material. The materials list was also short on several items. It was easier to draw it up myself and do the take offs and fax the materials list to 3 suppliers. My final materials costs was about 20% higher that Carters, but that included everything that I needed.

I've used a group of Mennonites who live and work in our area to build a couple of larger farm buildings and they do an extremely nice job. They don't leave until you are totally satisfied with everything and price is as good as anyone with far superior work ethics and skill. Don't know if you have any Amish or Mennonite communities in your area but if you do that would be my choice, Hal.
P.S. I am not Amish or a Mennonite and attend a Christian church.

Another thing I have found reading about pole barn kits in the farm advertising papers in my area is that they generally quote truss, stud spacing, etc. much greater then you would probably be happy with along with light weight thin sheet metal with little paint life warrenties. Be careful what you sign up too and make sure you understand what you are actually getting from whoever you select and read all fine print. Like noted in my prior post I have never used one of those "low ball" farm building builders who advertise "unbelieveable" prices. My step son is a custom home builder in this area and he says he can't buy the materials for what they advertise for an eracted building. Something is probably in the "hazy background" with some of these folks and you are doing the correct homework before selecting someone, Hal.

You might give these guys a call. I used them several years ago (2004). Their prices include construction and beat many do it yourself packages. The 30X40X10 they put up is still in great shape with no shifts or sags. Other than the dust it looks like it could have been put up last fall.

'thout knowing anything about your situation.......if you've got access to logs and/or utility poles and a sawmill, you can cut those prices by half or 2/3s.

you might try winsett out of Ok. they have put up numerous sheds in south La. takes them about 1 week with a crew of 4 for a good size shed

I bought a Lester kit two years ago. Pretty well thought out. They color code different kinds of lumber. The next one would be easier, though!

when I got ready to build mine I checked at sutherlands, not a really bad price. But then I sat down and figured out what all I needed, went to the local lumber yard with my list. The next day he called me with a price, $300 dollars less than sutherlands, and if I hauled it, $150. more off the price. I took him up on it, all good lumber, didn't have to take any piece back. I got my metal cut to the right length, except for the ends, at barn metal fabricators in boonville mo.
