LeRoi powered by Allis

This isn't exactly a tractor question but it's close. I have a LeRoi air compressor that needs a rebuild of the engine. The engine and compressor are all one block or monoblock and I assume one crankshaft. The engine part of the block is Allis Chalmers but I don't know what model, it looks a lot like a WD45. There is an id tag on it but the spot where the model # and serial # go was never filled in. This one was made after Westing house Air Brake bought LeRoi in 1954 but that's about all I know about it. Dose anyone know anything about these old machines? Thanks, Mark

Used to have a few of them at work. Ours were WD engines. If there is a large plate bolted onto the right side of the engine, it's a WD. No plate, WD45

The book, "Allis Chalmers Construction Equioment"
has a section on engine history, and relates
that the LeRoi 201 and 226 cubic inch 4 cyl.
engines were made for LeRoi, by Allis Chalmers.
In verifying that, my 1975 NAPA Engine parts
book, shows virtually all of the part numbers
are the same !
