I am looking for a new to me truck for the farm and to just do chores. The truck will not be driving daily. I found 2001 Dodge 3/4 ton V10 4x4 w/ 80,000 miles for 89,000 miles. Anyone have one of these with the V10? I know mileage will be bad,but I was curious about the durability. Any thoughts appreciated.

Had a 1994 one ton dually with the v-10. Ran it for over 170,000 milews with no problems at all. Also got 15-17 mpg when empty. I'd take another one in a heartbeat.

thanks for the early replies. How do the automatic transmissions hold up/ I will just be hauling a few round bales (about 80-100 /year).

'98 with 155,000 mi. Great pickup, but the transmission is starting to slip. 12mpg empty if you keep your foot out of it, but 8mpg towing a gooseneck, average 10mpg. I plan to keep mine for a long time. I really like the engine.

I bought a used 96 Dodge 3500 a couple years ago It has the V10 So far I like the power pulling my tractor and mower. Not too happy with the gas usage, but it does the job. Stan
