Ford 2000 leaks hydraulic oil out of timing hole

Have a 1964 Ford 2000 diesel tractor. Tractor rums great, but after hydraulic pressure builds up a few minutes, milkly looking hydraulic oil is pouring out of the timing light hole below hyraulic pump. Losing lot of fluid and lift doesn't work after hydraulic oil level drops. Would bad PTO seal cause this or is something more involved to repair?
thanks

the pto seal is at the but end of the tractor.. the pump on a 4 cyl 2000 is up on the right rear of the engine.. NOT RELATED

the timing cover lets you see the flywheel. are you sure it is not oil coming out of the pump to engine, or pump to plumbing connection?

have you checked to see if the trans is looking WAY over full.. is the bellhousing drain clogged and letting oil pool in the clutch bellhousing?

ps.. this isn't a sos tranny is it? if so there are a couple lines up front there that might blow oil.

and just to be clear.. this is a 4 cyl prior model 2000, not a 65+ 3 cyl... right?

I pulled hydraulic pump, changed o-rings, gaskets, bleed off air and covered timing hole. No leak off the pump anywhere or around tube off bottom of pump. Took cover off timing hole and milky fuid definitly coming out of timing hole. Someone else also said fuild is more than likely collecting in bell housing and flywheel is picking it up and slinging it out timing hole. Says leak may be from bad front transmission seal. Does that sound right to you? Thanks, Duyane

Any tips on changing this front transmission seal, and are there anymore seals I should replace while the front half of tractor is split?

I drained trans., removed weep / inspection plate. Your were right the hole was clogged up bad. And the trans. had about a gallon too much fluid. Put in new fluid and left plate off to see how much fluid was coming out into bellhouse. Looked like a few drips. Definitely has a lesk somewhere, but aleast it is'nt blowing out timing hole making a big mess.
Plan on using it a while and see how much fluid I lose before I tear it apart. Thanks for all you information.

trans might have had water in it.. or rather.. deffinately did.. lielly that extra gallon.. that's why it was milky.

with it a gallon high it would leak for sure.

try this.. drain about 2-3 qts of tranny oil out.. then go put in 2-3 quarts of atf stop leak.. that and the new non watery oil may swell the seal enough to not be a problem.. at least for a while anyway.. in any case.. won't hurt ya, and if it works.. it was an 8$ fix..
