Guide headlight lenses

I have noticed that most antique tractors with
guide brand headlights have a smooth lens on the left and a dimpled lens on the right. Was wondering why this is?

'Cause if both were dimpled then one wouldn't be smooth, and if both were smooth, then one wouldn't be dimpled, and everyone knows that dimples are cute!

The smooth lens for seeing far away and the dimpled as more of a flood light for up close? Dunno.

That's a new one on me. I never knew that to be the case when those tractors were newer.
