How do you install a rear rim on a tractor JD-A

I have a late model JD A with cast iron hubs. I have a 13.6-38 replacement tire I bought in a salvage yard that is already mounted on a rim (non loaded) and I am looking for a easy procedure for one person to install it on the hub. I had to cut the old rim and tire off the hub because because it was so rusty. I just can not figure how to get the rim over the those raised parts on the hub.

Sorry to tell you this, but with a drop center rim, you will either have to install the cast iron center dished out (so the raised bumps are inside). Or take the cast center off and put it on the rim and install the unit as one hole assembly.

If you hold your mouth just right, you can tilt the wheel just right and wiggle it just right, you can sneak the rim onto the hub.-did that last year.

What do you mean by "hub"? Do you really mean the wheel?

The terms are: Tire, rim, wheel, hub, axle.

Which one are you talking about?

I am pretty sure that you can work the wheel over the cast center by turning the wheel on an angle to the center. I have done it on an A John Deere.Greg.

Do I really have to take that cast iron hub off? That must weigh 200 lbs. There is no way to slip the rim over those raised sections on the hub without taking it off?

you need to get the rim at about a 70 degree angle the the center casting and drop into the notch in the casting then roll the center and rim will drop on i have doon this more times than i can count

Kent is correct, I had my doubts about it working when I was told about it, but it works good.

On a late model it should not apply but on earlier models the hub and the wheel were one piece with the cast iron disk, seperate rim and all the spoke wheels were one piece for hub, spokes and rim.

Is the clamps and bolts been taken off? If so its just a matter of leaning new assembly over wheel center with out breaking valve stem if lugs are on outside of center and if clamps are are on outside its just a walk in the park.
