O/T endorsements? $$$

Since today seems to be the day for wandering off topic. A question occured to me while I ate lunch. Had tomato soup with Ritz crackers and a balony sandwich. Looking at the cracker box I notice NASCAR logos all over it and I start thinking I haven't watched a NASCAR race since Janette Guthrie raced at the Poconos years ago. Just have no interest. Even though I could care less if NASCAR, NFL, NBA or MLB existed at all, I wonder how much the NASCAR endorsement added to the cost of my box of crackers?
Yes we are ready for so decent weather!

i have wondered why i have to buy a product that a celebrity endorses, they already make millions, get a local, unemployed, etc, to endorce that product if they like it.. bet the celebrities never eats/use it anyway, just because they said i need it. makes me more not wanting it.

There are a couple different ways this could work...

1. NASCAR is paying Ritz for advertising space on its boxes.

2. Ritz is a NASCAR sponsor, and has paid for the rights to use the logo on the box.

The long and short of it is, the vast majority of people are SHEEP, easily swayed by advertising and famous people telling them they need something.

Count yourself lucky and blessed to be among the few that can think with your own brain and see past all the fancy song-and-dance routines.

I don't care what's on the package, myself. I buy Ritz crackers because they taste GOOD. There is no comparison between Ritz and the store-brand versions...

I buy the cheap brands of everything. Perhaps that's why they are cheaper. Most likely they are made the same place the expensive brands are made. Seem to taste the same to me.

Wouldn't it be a hoot to require our representatives in washington to display the logo's of the companies that donate to their campaigns? Have them all looking like nascar drivers .

Ya,that's what I wanna buy. Ritz Crackers with a picture of a local druggie on the box. All strung out with the munchies! Sounds real appetizing!

MMMMM BOY,when I'm all strung out,I reach for Ritz!

Sad fact is "the local druggie" is likely a better customer (and more of them) than people like us that just like Ritz crackers in our soup. Why the endorsement at all? Just sell a good product at a fair price, it will sell itself! (the store brands alway seem stale, at least to me).

That would do wonders for sales of a product.

Celebrity endorsements increase sales of a product. The company that produces that product hires more people to keep up with demand. More ingredients are needed so suppliers do better, investors see a return on their money, and so on.

I went to Sam's Club Monday evening and stocked up on a bunch of staples. There staring me right in the face was a huge box of Ritz Crackers so of course I threw them into the cart.
Just took a look at them for any advertising and noticed the net wt is THREE pounds. Sheesh! Feeling a bit guilty now because they are fattening. But I agree that no other cracker is as good as a Ritz.
No Nascar on these.

" SHEEPLE" is the word you are lookin' for. They are what kept our "false economy" going as long as it did. Our cities are full of them , and Washington counts on it.

I wish I could find the movie again that I saw years ago about truth in advertising. The way I remembert it an advertising exec had people who were mentally challenged helping him come up with advertising for various products. The slogans were things like, "Fly XYZ airlines, we've had fewer crashes then anyone else"....." Buy an ABC car, their boxey but good"....."You need a CDE car, they're ugly but because they're expensive the women love them so they'll get you...." Those aren't exact by any means but the that's the jist of every add the developed, truthful and funny as he!! for the particular product they were promoting. Anyone else seen the movie can tell me the name, I'd love to see it again.......
