MD Farmall with broken sleeves

Dug this old gal out of the brush where it has been setting for 30 years. So far have found two broken sleeves and it might have a oversize kit in it because the sleeves are four inches in dia. Should I go back with four inches sleeves or standard? Thanks

Just got it broke loose, had one cylinder stuck. Been trying for the last three month. Now I am too busy working ground and fixing fence.

How did you do it? I've got an Oliver 770 that had water down the exhaust and into 2 cylinders. Been trying to break them loose for a couple of months now. Have the head off and still won't budge but the sleeve is starting to push out.

Sometimes your best hope is that the sleeve will just come out with the piston still in it and then you can go to work and peel the sleeve away from that piston. Still is not an easy task. I've had a couple of stuck pistons that I had to literally destroy and then remove the pieces which is not as bad as it sounds because very rarely will you be able to re-use those pistons anyhow.

I loosened a pontiac once by pouring diesel in the bores. The ones the diesel did not penetrate I took the torch to and got them nice and warm. Once the diesel was burning I took the torch off and let them burn out. After a bit the diesel would run through and they all loosened up. Good luck! joe-

More then likely not only are the sleeves cracked BUT also the block behind the sleeves . And more then likely it is on 2 and 3 . Not the first one and sure won't be the last. Don't panic as you can fix it by boring out the hole and pressing in a repair sleeve and bore that to take the new sleeves done that many times. Use a thick wall repair sleeve and be done with it. The block was just stress relieving it's self .
