gallons of fluid in rear tires

I disagree......Fluid is more effect and fluid, plus "some" weights is the ideal.
You certainly get more "bang for your buck" with fluid!
If a tractor is being used as a loader where direction changes are frequent, fluid provides much less resistance to that change!
Translate to: less stress on the drivetrain; probably more important on smaller tractors than the larger ones.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!

So you are saying it takes less energy to accelerate 1000lbs of liquid ballast to 5mph. Vs. the amount of energy to accelerate 1000lbs of cast iron ballast to 5mph ?

Its not the acceleration, its the torsional load.
Spin a pail of water; then spin a pail of sand; you"ll see what I mean.

Given all the loads and stresses imposed on the drive train. How does the inertia of wheel weights under 5 mph make any discernible difference?

(quoted from post at 09:12:31 04/19/11) Since you are always right; it can"t make any difference at all!

If you are worried about interia install some baffles in the fuel tank. There is more stress from 10 gallons of fuel hitting the end of the tank at speed. Than there is from a 5mph rotating wheel weight.

(quoted from post at 16:32:13 04/19/11) Well......guess you don"t really know everything after all!! LOL

You better be careful or b&d will accuse you of picking on him as he did me.
Tx Jim

txjim you are wandering around lost and confused again. Please try to find your way back to bde before the ward nurse notices you missing at meds time.
b.t.w. you are just guessing these tires are on a 4020. There was no mention of calculating new vs. used price of ballast either.

No place in my post did it imply/refer to a 4020 nor that I'm in a ward with a nurse administering me drugs. And to think you accused me of picking on you. If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black.

I hope you have a wonderful day in your fantasy world.

Have you been palming your dose or hiding it under your tongue again?
Keep looking for a new replacement for a 4020. You will eventually find it even where it doesn't exist.

have you been sampling that tire fluid?

have you been sampling that tire fluid?

Are you referring to water? I try to drink some water every day. If you're referring to CaCl or antifreeze I would think your being a Nuclear plant employee(that must spend more time on a tractor site than nuclear business) should know that consumption of those liquids wouldn't be healthful. Have a nice day.

Hence the concern I have for you. Taking the important time out of my day, worrying that you may have sampled some tire fluid.

The only concern you have for me is that I disagree with some of your absurd statements & ideas. Your "important time" at the Nuclear plant would be important to me if I was your BOSS or if I lived close by the facility. As I stated have a nice day goofing off on the payroll.

txjim. Now you are blowing more smoke and wondering off topic even farther. Please take a step in the right direction and go back to imagining something about 4020's.
