Well today marked the first day of seeding at Clinton Camp Farm in Northern Otsego Co. NY. I got home from work and shot these pics. about 6:00 PM. from a high point just above the farmstead. From this point one can see 360 degrees, so here's a batch of pics. It was a sunny daywith temp at 46F, but a raw cold wind from the NE. I don't know weather my computer is crapping out or there is a problem on this site tonight, but after spending over a hour trying to upload 13 pics. this is all I got so enjoy.

That's just not the same NY I live in! Nothing but mud here.
By the way- Do you know the Hoskins family from just west of Auburn? Multi-generational farmers. Ironically named Limestone Ridge, or Ledge Farm, I can't remember. But similar situation to what you described in your pictures of the first plowing. Couple generations back they were a Case dealer. Then one son ran the farm, and the other sold American Motors and GMC out of the building. Current generation(about the same as you and me) runs the farm. The old dealership building is now a thriving Monroe Tractor location.

Come on AGC, you pulled those out of a farm magazine didn't ya? LOL, super nice pics, you gotta love being in the country just like the rest of us! I can almost smell the freshly turned earth.

Hey there ACG,
Thanks for the great pics. You sure have beautiful farm country there. Seeing these makes me appreciate the great things about living the farm life. Here in Southern Minnesota things are at a stand still. I hauled manure last weekend for the first time since last November. Too cold for any tillage for corn and also wet for small grain planting. Thanks again.

Interesting--got a buddy that works for Monroe out of their Adams Center (by Watertown) store.

Hay Bob,
What was their Dealership Name? My friend John Saeli is in Geneva and Dinsmore Diesel was in the area also. Post some more info if you can. Every farmer in the area has been plowing, this week, but we are going to get this storm from our friends in the North Central Us this weekend.
Possably snow squals. Tell you next Tuesday LoL. I am really conserned here, because we had no mud this spring and the wind was kicking up some dust today on plowed ground. With all the snow we had this winter I don't know where the water went. Streams in the north country are running full, and there is still snow on the ground, but not enough to cause any flooding.

Good question. Delos Hoskins sold the motor vehicles. I think that was Hoskins Motors. But my memory isn't working so good. I think his father was also Delos. I assume the Case dealership was Hoskins--- something. I thought you might know them. Guess I've got to do some research.

Pretty country and nice drilling outfit except I bet you wish you had a cab on that tractor this year---shivver--. I see you don't appear to have any stones there...lucky you..... Also no housing tracts, in view at least...lucky you again... Question,is anybody still using the upright silos we see in the pictures?

ACG, those are beautiful pictures. I went through the area just to the north on I-90 in 2007. That's a very beautiful area.

ACG does the neighbor still have a milk herd? That looks like a tight ship shape operation. The milk business must have been good to him over the years. He seems to have a good line of newer equipment. Most dairy farms any more farm with junk or um I mean older worn out stuff.
