Non starting CaseIH... here's one for ya!

OK Guys (and Girls), try this one for size....

Took the head off my 5240 CaseIH last week, had it skimmed and the valves redone (head was warped a fraction and leaking anti freeze). I got the injectors done too - new tips and 3 of the 6 re-shimmed to bring pressures back to spec (for some reason this tractor has CAV injectors not Bosch).

Anyway, put it all back together and now have no fire... rebled everything a few times, no air showing anywhere, and good sized shots of diesel when the injectors are loosened. No fire and no white smoke either...

I DID NOT touch the timing system at all, although we static checked the timing of the pump with a dial gauge (good).

I"ve had the fuel shut off solenoid out and it seems to work ok.

Right now i"m stumped... out of ideas...

Anyone got any ideas?????

HEllo oj,
It sounds as if you have no compression.
If you can, do a compression test.
If you have fuel going into the cylnders and no smell or smoke out of the exhaust, it points to
no compression. I would also check the valves for proper setting. Valves and valve seats angles could be wrong. A compression test will show that as wel. If all the injectors are 100% plugged?, not likely after a rebuilt, a squirt of fuel in the intake would prove that fuel is or isn't the issue.
Good Luck............Guido.

This happened to me. The old pump may not be puting out enough pressure to POP the injecters since you had them set to specs. The improper fix would be to loosen the springs in the injecters til she fires, you have to do them all. It is a temp. fix but worked a few times for me.

Not common, but occasionally an injector will stick open, then compression pushes back to the pump not allowing any injectors to crack.
