Guys, Here we are, Mid-April suppose to be nice and wet. The wet weather creeks, springs and year round creeks running, Blue Bonnets and wild flowers in full bloom. But NO! last 6 months (since Oct) are just about record levels in dryness. Cracks in places you can run your hand into up to you wrist or better in places.
And we are all holding out breath and praying that some careless passerby doesn't flick out a cigarette, or a welder working on a set of pipe fence corners, or a shredder hits a rock and most of this country goes up in flames.
I know some of y'all are needing Rice tires on the John Deere's just to get around for y'all have had so much rain. Quite a contrast!
That squall line that came through Sunday night/Early Monday AM, Had tornadoes up at Hillsborough We had .5 in of rain it was gone by 10 AM!
Weather in Texas is anything but Boring!
I Would appreciate if Y"all would put us here in Texas on your local church prayer list for rain!
Thank You for this!!
Later,
John A.

same here, we had about 2 inches of moisture since october this whole area is pine forrest and juniper ceader ect, just had a fire that burned 10,000 acres plus also 6 homes and numerous outbuildings, yesterday had 4 more small fires 3 of which were started by low life slobs throwing their cigerett butts out the window in spite of a 500 doller fine here for doing so, no first warning, into dry grass, beats me how people cant grow enough brains to use the ashtray in their car when cars have had them since the 1930's

Last year this time we were about done planting.

This year haven't been on a field as of yet..

Northwestern Pa. Is very very wet, can we pipe
you down water, exchange for cheap gas?

We're praying for rain on this side of Texas as well. We don't have quite the fire threat you all over that way have but it sure is going to put a dent in the number of cuts this year on the hay reserves if something doesn't give.

In my part of Texas 120 miles from the coast. East Texas we are very dry. Burn ban in effect for every county around us.

Would love to send you some H2O from the Dakotas. Where I"m at we"re starting our 3rd straight year of excessive moisture. Last year we had about 18 months worth of precip in 3 months. Normally we dry out before we drown out. I guess these changes in conditions is one thing that keeps others from farming. Oh, I forgot to mention, we"re in a winter storm watch for this weekend.

They're "closet smokers" who don't want the wife or hubby to know. By keeping window open about an inch, keeping cigarette up by the window between puffs, blowing the smoke toward the open window, and throwing the butt out the window instead of using ashtray, one can actually smoke fairly regularly in a car and not stink it up.

Not justifying it, just 'splainin'.

East side of the mountains in Colorado--no measurable since last July hail storms. West slope muntains and ski areas, lot of snow.

Snow is finally gone, and I have water coming up out of the ground like Jed Clampett's oil well.
It will be a bog for a few weeks yet.

my chunk of Tejas is kindlin too ...burn ban for last 2 months [shoulda been since november]
...guessterologists sayin it may be like last year...real wet june, july
if i didnt have half the hay i bought last fall left,my cattle would be goin thru the ring this week.

I've heard that y'all are really dry. Here in north AR we are fairly dry too but dot in a drought. We had burn bans a couple of weeks ago but we got 1/4" of rain so they lifted them  . I hope we're not in for another year like last year.

Oklahoma is very dry extreme drought now what ever that means. We got a 10th sunday night woo hoo. I grew up in the east and I know mud sucks, but if I had to pick one I'd sure take the rain.

John, I'm just north of Houston in southern Montgomery county. We are in a 50 year drought. Just north of me, there has been almost no rain this year. All the stock tanks are low and the hay fields are in bad shape. Three quarters of the state is in a drought. All the counties here a burn ban in effect.

Cigarettes should not be thrown out windows. However most vehicles don't have ashtrays in them anymore. It has fallen out of fashion.

We have it dry here too. Disked Monday and again Tuesday, Plowed the field today. Not a problem with damp ground today. Saw a large turtle crossing the field, looking for wetter digs. Swamps ain't half full, some even are dry already. Fire departments are having a rash of grass fires. Snow melt didn't really leave the moisture it usually does.

Not wanting significant other to know they were smoking??? Heck, I could tell when my wife WORKED with a smoker at the hospital where she worked as a nurse. I could smell it on her hair.

That Chap that everyone blames is at it again.

Surely Sarah can label him "Personna non grata" and put an end to all this uncertainty.
