harrow spikes

Are the spikes on a harrow hardened? I need some and was gonna make some out of some 1/2" square stock I have but I think they might bend. What do you guys think?

On the old harrows I have some of them were replaced by old head bolts or railroad spikes.
Agri supply used to carry replacements, but I dont see them in the catalogs I have on hand.

Forged in our area when I was a kid. I remember the old blacksmith would hammer them out with a dying fire. He'd get one or two made and pitch them in a metal bucket. Sold them for 25 cents apiece. I commented once to him that it didn't look like it was worth the trouble for a quarter. He said, "A quarter is a quarter", and kept hammering.

Are you loking for the type that has a bolt on top to go thru a pipe or the type that would drive in a wood bar or on a steel harrow have a clamp around? Also what length do you need? Plenty of places around that have them new. But need more information to guide on finding them.
