Hello my name is Rob and this is my first post.
My tractor’s rear pto leaver will not disengage but my two stage clutch will. I"m thinking the pin is sheered on the leaver shaft part 2 or part 4 is broken.(ref pix) The lever's position is too far forward and stops at the 11 o'clock position on the swing back to disengage. My question is should this job be left to the professionals or can someone with basic skills take that plate off the top to get area of repair? Any comment will be appreciated.
My rear PTO lever

Hi Rob...From what you posted I am thinking that your PTO will stop with the clutch pedal fully depressed, but shifting the lever makes no change in the engagement. If this is the case I would think your diagnosis is correct. Now for the rest of the story,to repair this requires the rockshaft housing to be lifted off. This is heavy and will require a crane or hoist. The shift linkage repair is easy.....probably a roll pin, cleaning the gasket surfaces is straight forward and reinstalling the rockshaft cover is easy EXCEPT FOR getting the follower from the load sense arm up into the proper position in the hitch linkage. Iam not trying to scare you but that part is tricky and I am not sure what skills or resources you have (besides the internet). If you have more questions myself and several others here will try to help, Bob

Thanks alot Bob. My bother is a mechanic and is trained on rebuilding Caterpillars and he can be a valuable resource. Most likely I will be doing the work my self. Maybe you have a brother like mine. LOL Your tip about follower is priceless and I really appreciate your post. I’ll ask my brother what that means. I never thought about the lift either. I guess that’s why I sell stuff for a living. Thanks again. rob
