Did you give your tractor a name?

After recently acquiring my 641 Workmaster, someone mentioned that I need to name it.

Well, I was wondering what some of you guys named yours?

...and yes, it's a slow day for me.

Call mine all sorts of names through the years Ive had it...*&*&^...for one...also been called !#@#!, a number of times then my all time favorite is ?>#$#

A few years ago my partner in crime & myself
went to look at a John Deere Combine listed in
our local paper.. We ended up buying a John
Deere 60 & a Grain wagon?? Niether one of those
two items were even listed??
After we got the tractor home we got the
spreader stuck & really didn't want to unload
it in one spot because we'd just cleaned up all
the other place where we'd be stuck in the Deep
Snow.. I I used the 60 on frt of another John
Deere 60.. Ever Since then I tagged the name
of the (Pull'en Fool) on this tractor & It's
always Stuck with it... We have many Deere's
Most of the are call bye there Model ## except
The PULL'EN FOOL....

usually call them by their letter or number or previous owners ,ol'730,lady800, POP's DC ,the Clarence combine , the Dallas combine ,Rodney's SC,.ect.

When I first bought an Oliver 1550 in 1977, it seemed pretty big, in comparison to the JD 420 utility and IH W4 that I already had- so nicknamed it "Bodacious".

My first tractor was a new Super Dexta Ford. This was our first diesel and I named her "Thumper" after the rabbit in the movie Bambi. Seemed appropriate with the"new to us" diesel thump.
Second new tractor was a Ford 5200 and named her "Miss Trish" after our first born. Painted the names on each tractor.

This is my 1954 Ford NAA. Gave her the name "Denise".
a36801.jpg

In looking at Denise, I'm reminded of why I chose to buy an antique and not sign my life away on a $30,000 tractor. She's a looker!

At last count I have 6 tractors around here. They are not Toys or Pets, just work tractors. For my record keeping they all have a number.
If I get another one - it will become #7.

We had a John Deere 4630 that was called "Big John" and I worked for a neighbor who had a tractor that they bought in Wisconsin, so it was called "Bucky"!

Never named a tractor, but I once had a boat hamed "Penelope".

Also once had a car I called "Herpes" 'cause I couldn't get rid of it.

I don't have a name for mine but I know she's female! Treat her right and you will get a lot out of her, treat her wrong and she will punish you for it!

Amen!

I remember my Dad named one of our Silver King tractors, Hezekiah, Or Hezzee. Don't know why, and He's gone now

A 3020 JD named Rusty, 850 Ford named Fred, and a 4020 called Frank. They all have their personalities. Frank is frankly a good tractor you can depend on. Rusty has surface rust on hood and was swamped when a dam broke. Fred is just Fred if you ignore him for long he doesn't want to crank, very temperamental.

I didn't, but my wife called my new (to me) Ford 3600 "Glenda" in an email to someone right after I got it. We're all wondering how she came up with that, but I just call it "the tractor". I call my Ford TLB "the backhoe". Guess if I had a bunch like others on here, I'd give them names. Anyway, my grown kids ask every now and then how "Glenda" is. I've got to stop and think who they're talking about. LOL. Neighbors might also raise their eyebrows if I started talking about going out back and "jumping on Glenda" or if I said "Glenda gave me a rough ride yesterday". LOL.

Nope,i know them by sight.
giving them a name would be foolish, they don't come running when you call them anyway.
I do cuss at them when they occasionally let me down though.

I have a 1952 Ford 8n that my grandpa gave me when he passed on. He always called it his "little rink a dink" tractor so I named her "RINK" and everyone that knows me calls her RINK!!

I'm down to just one tractor now and she was already given a name by the previous owner, he called her Ole Betsy. So I call her the same just to keep her purring and always ready to work.

All of my tractors begin with the letter "C."

Carlson, 1952 Ford 8N, named for the Carlson family.
Coigun, 1941 Farmall A, named for the funds gained from the sale of coins and guns, funds used to purchase the tractor.
Cumbrous, 1931 McCormick-Deering 22-36, named because it is a cumbersome machine (Cumbrous is a synonym),
Carbon Copy, 1930 McCormick-Deering 22-36, so named because it is "identical" to the 1931 22-36 that was acquired first.
Clemo, 1944 John Deere A, so named because it was born the same year as my sister-in-law, who has, as one of her nicknames, Clemo.

had a nice Setter a few years ago. When we got her just called her "Puppy" waiting to find the right name. 10 years later she was still being called "Poppy"

Meet "Edmund", named after his crotchety former owner and life-long friend of my late Dad, Edmund:

<img src = "http://i54.tinypic.com/nejjig.jpg">

Auntie Allis - WD45
Minnie, The WannaBe WD - CA Allis
Bobby - 600 Bobcat
John - H John Deere
Joy Ride - LA145 John Deere lawnmower

Vehicles are also named
Mountain Bikes are numbered
Semi Truck and Trailer are lettered

Thanks, this is the lower part. The building's new, just unfinished. 2 floors in the concrete part, then 2 more floors on top, post&beam milled from my trees. Bottom holds machine tools, top is my lumber shed. I'm about to mill 6"x10"x26' oak beams for the front of the upper part to house Bertha and a couple of her friends. I wasn't smart enough to buy property with buildings.

That tractor, Bertha, was the answer to my dreams. Deas Plant, who used to post here, guided me through my search. I knew what I wanted, didn't know much about these loaders.

Grandad farmed with horses, which each had names. When he bought his first tractor, a Farmall A, he named it "Mike".

Clyde - Farmall C, named by a teenager who worked for Dad a long time ago.

Super Clyde - Farmall Super C, obvious.

Moose - Farmall M, natural name for our biggest tractor at the time it was named.

Eddie - Farmall Super C, bought from my friend Eddie.

Lenny - IH 330, Lenny used to own this one.

Toby - IH 404, former NY Thruway machine, brush painted black over the original yellow, Lenny's "brother".

Og - Farmall 560, The Giant Og, from the Old Testament, named by my older son.

Johnny - John Deere 1010 crawler, obvious.

Now that's funny right there now! I don't care who you are!

I named an Oliver 88 Josephine one time. Bought it in Ohio and the dealer decal said it was from Napolean.

i call my oliver 1655 "ollie" so i guess thats not much of a name. i
like the idea of calling a tractor herpes bcuz you just cant get rid of
it.

AC 185 is Ally.
Ford 960 is Baby.
6700 is Honney, bought here the weekend I married my first wife, glad one thing that weekend worked out!!!
9600 is Big Sweetie, not sure where it came from but it kinda fits.

Dave

Her name is Dee. She's a 64 Ford 4000. Normally on the front grille there are the letters

F
O
R
D

The top three letters are missing.

I've been calling my Ford 641 by the name of "Little Red"

I have been thinking about giving it a girl's name?

I call my red 2004 Ford 150 by the name of "Red" (yes,...it is red in color!)

And my Focus I call the "Silver Streak".

I have a 1952 Massey Harris 55 Rice LP that I have named "Messy Harry". Kind of a play on the Massey Harris name, Eastwood's "Dirty Harry", and as a tribute to the original owner whose name was Harry. His son gave me the tractor. It is far from running as the engine is stuck tight and the overall appearance is a rusty "mess", but I'm gonna hang on too it, since I've given it a name and all.

Had to think twice about replying; didn"t know if I could recall all the names.

Where <s>did</s> do I ever find the time to work on all these old tractors!

I call my Ferguson 2085 "Fergie", always scratch behind her ears (headlights) when I put her in the shed and say, " Good job Fergie, good work old girl".

Guy up the road calls his 8N "Henry".

Almost too tired to do this but kinda interesting to see what others have said, here are a few of the 50 or more in our collection
460 pulling tractor--MIGRAINE
Farmall M Diesel--The Doctor(MD)
Farmall H--Preppy
200 Farmall--Half Pint
560 Farmall--Weeds(That is where it came out of)
560 Farmall ---Hawkeye Came from Iowa)
M Farmall---Comotion
650 Diesel---Big Stuff
1468 V-8--Twin Towers
400 Farmall--Red Ink
Super C--See Ya
Farmall Cub--Think Big
That's enough for now Howard

My ole Farmall "M" had the name Emma. I know it was a female since she was temper-mental. Sold her in '89. Now I have a McCormick-Deering O-4 that is called Ofer. Bucky would be a good name for the W-400 I got out of Wisconsin.

well i hav a h farmall his name is hercules because it would not start after restoreing it and we tore the 3 point hitch out of our ca allis chalmers and the bumper off of our service van trying to pull the tractor of to start it

This could quite possibly be the stupidest thing I have ever read on here.
