I have a char lynn torque generator s-101-f the control end drive is broke in half on the star end other than that the unit is in great shape the replacement model is the 217-1015-002. My question is will the control end drive from the 217 model the be the same or does anyone have a used control drive end from a s-101 to sell? Eaton hydraulics offers no help other than to buy a new complete 217 model generator. The part I an refering to is item no.9 at this address http://hydraulics.eaton.com/products/pdfs/C-STTQ-TP001-E.pdf this is a 207 model but apears identical. Thanks for all your help James

I know how you feel. I just had to replace a drive motor on my skid steer. I was able to cross it to the Eaton number. But I was not willing to bet several hundred $$ on the part I needed (shaft) was the same between the old Cessna unit I had and the new Eaton shaft. Just like you no one would back it up.

I don't know how soon you need it, but if you have the time just look around. Nothing wrong with the broken one becoming the good parts unit on the shelf. Who knows you might run across a dead one and get just the part you need. If you need it now, well, I guess your options are limited.

I did manage to find a NOS one I needed online at a surplus store. But I had to buy a complete unit. So now my perfectly good motor with broken output shaft sits on the shelf (good internals and case) for parts if ever needed.

I have a IH350 with a Char-Lynn torque gen that looks like it is powered by a separate power steering pump. Can it be rebuilt like other hyd units?

I have found the 217 model for $350 and the part for it is $65 but cant find anybody that knows if it will fit and cant return it if I buy it. This is the last thing this tractor needs before paint. I dont jocky tractors but after tires, new power steering pump, paint and other soft parts $350 is just way over the top of what an old Allis WD45 is worth. I was hoping I could find somebody that had a junk one that would sell me the part out of it or enough knowlage to know weither a substitution would fit. As many as these old S-series generators there are out there you would think a small shop could make money knocking off parts for them as there pretty simple. Anyways Thanks for the reply James

As far as I can tell nothing is available but a seal kit for $30-$50 no hard parts available for the older models. I belive yours is the same as mine so just for the info those Eaton pumps I have seen on tractors are bushed with no bearings and hard parts are not available for them either. Ford used the same pumps until 1964 on all their power steering vehicles, the 1964-1/2 and 1965 mustang had the same short snout pump with the resavoir mounted on top that can be removed and the port block mounted. Also the dump trucks large body cars and a lot of forklifts used these pumps. The snout is 1/4 to 3/8 inch longer and these pumps have bearing instead of bushings and they are available new. I have seen these pumps for $150-$300 but I have seen them on ebay new really cheap like $10 if they dont know the exact aplication. Thanks for the reply James
