Just saw the first corn planter in the field, neighbor who farms big was in the field with a Cat and 16 row Kinzie this afternoon. 92 here today but supposed to only be 52 tomorrow. A little early for my blood, but I expect to be in the field in the next week or 2.

That would be irrigated land wouldn't it?

Our soil temp is in the mid to high thirties here in NW Iowa. We've got a ways to go before we can plant. A few years back a distant neighbor planted all of his corn last of March which is WAY early. He lucked out and ended up with a good crop.

saw some guys out with field cultivators, and a couple planters went down the road, but no corn going in yet. dug down a couple inches in the field, ground is still 42 degrees.

Same temps here north of KC, thunderstorm moved in and we just had some hail. Soil temp is still low here and 30 degrees predicted for tomo night. Only the top inch in dry - rest is still quite wet.

Still two feet deep snow drifted from the treeline along the side of my fields. Todays rain should melt most of it.
Looks like 10 days to two weeks at best before planting spring wheat.
