My hardware man can no longer get the strong leathers for my water pump piston... it is a F E MEYER ,, this pump Has served this House since it was built in 1930 . and Just might be the last one in the county that is still in service .. Although city water is available I WILL CHOOSE To Remain on my 2 cisterns , One is 20ftby 8 , the other is 6 x12 and we have a seperate well at the barn that always filled the sprayer tanks and the swimming pool , ALL IN THE SAME WEEK . unless You guys can magically Come up with a source for 1 - 1/2 cupped leathers ,, This piece of quiet effecient-thump -thump-history will be replaced with a screaming jet pump .. And i really dont want to replace it . so if any of you fellas got ideas were i can find leathers or create a piston that wil l do the job , dropme aline , thanx jh

You did not say what the bore of your pump is but you might check with HUDSON sprayer company. My Father-in-Law has a gasoline driver Hudson sprayer with a piston pump. The hardware store quit having the leather cups for his sprayer. We thought Hudson had quit making them. I contacted them on the web. They still made the needed parts. The hardware store would not stock them. I ordered ten when I ordered from the factory. You might be able to use their leathers. The bore was about 1.5 inches.

Try Sears, or Sta-rite,in Delevan.Wi.Some hardware stores used to handle them, such as Ace Hardware.Packing may be more difficult to get than the leathers.Wish you luck,Hope this helps, they were a good pump.Regards, Lou

Wasn't the piston cup for the VAC HiPress lift cylinder 1 1/2 inch?
Also, someone mentioned using Brake Cylinder cups for Hyd - would they work for water?

F.E. Myers is still in business in Ashland, OH. You might contact them direct and ask, they may still have ome old parts.
