What was your first new tractor?

I saw a book advertised on ebay entitled "My First New Tractor". It made me think what the first new tractor I bought was. Kind of hard to say because my father bought several(JD 2030,1530,4030,4040) and we have bought some together(MF 4WD model?, Deutz 6265, Ford 7210, NH 5030, JD 7210). I guess it would be a JD 7220 for me because I had most of the input on it. What was your first new tractor?

They are All NEW to me,,When I get them ... LOL,... I did buy a 1984 1010 Massey with only 48 hours on the clock .. It was Like New in Every Respect ,, Had a cutsy -pie umbrella too ,, AND A LOADER ,, That little rascal is a veryGOOD tractor ,, And you Can haul it anywhere in a Dodge Dakota with the
Loader over the cab of the pickup ...

Never had a new tractor. Now days I would never want a new one. In all my years I have only had/owned one new car/truck ad that was a piece of junk got about 100,000 on it and had to do a rebuild. To little power for the weight of the body. Any how for the price of things now days I will not own new

The first new Tractor i bought when Dairy farming in ILL.in the 1960"s was a D17 AC,next was a AC 190XT,and the last was a AC D21. Increased acreage demanded bigger and faster power for feild work. All these Tractors were on my going out of buisness sale in 1971 plus a couple of WD"s and WD45"s.Of these I liked the versatile 190 XT best.

New 1070 case in '74. Traded it for a new IH 1086 in '78. The rest have ben used. Not gonna buy another new one. Jim

john deere 4960 250 hrs as close as it will ever get to new. first tractor 1929 D john deere but it was 60 years old when I got it.Paul

I've bought two tractors new, B-275 in 1961 and a 4000 Ford in 1975, $2250.00 & $7600, both still with me, along with nine others.

Still own it! 1971 Massey Ferguson 150, 8-speed, Perkins diesel. It got a repaint 5 years ago, and it will be 40 years old (purchase date) in 35 days. It's been the single most reliable piece of equipment I've ever been around.

Bought my wife a new JD 4010 for her birthday in 2005 (18.5 hp "compact utility")- and no, I didn't end up sleeping in the barn. Its been great, especially cause SHE can (and will) operate it.

Got a 50 horse Kubota with 240 hours about 3 years ago, that's as close to new as I've gotten.

Brought a new Yanmar 165 in 1977 and traded it for a new kubota 2150 in 1992. I traded that for a new kubota 7800 in 2005. I don't know if Jap. compacts count but they sure are handy to have. I also brought and traded some used REAL tractors during that time too. Farmall 504, H, and a Super C. Along with a Massey 2135, 231, and some N fords.

Never bought one myself but the first as a manager was a Cat Challanger 75 in 1998. Put a laser bucket behind it. Like being inside a washing machine.

I didn't buy it, but here is my first new tractor.

The only tractor I have bought is my '49 8n front mount. But it isn't new.

Dad and I bought a new AC 6060 together. Factory cab, AC, stadium lights, the works. But that was a screw up. We should have bought the 6080, then maybe one of us would have kept it. When we quit working together, we sold it. It put out so much more power than advertised we were afraid of the rear end.
It was also a screw up in that it was a "safe harbor lease"-purchase at the end of five years for a dollar. IRS decided retroactively they didn't like it, and changed the law. So, given that we split the cost, I got credit off my half for a trade in, and now the whole deal had to be re-calculated for a higher residual, it was a real mess!
That was undoubtedly the closest I'll ever be to a new tractor.

Like Larry, the only ones I've bought new are Ertl's. Last new tractor on the farm was a Ford 4600 that my Grandpa bought in '80. He also bought a new Ford 7000 in '75. Both are still here.
Newest I've bought was a '89 TW35 in 2000. Lowest houred (3200+ hrs.) was a '77 7600 in '95.

New tractors are only for rich folks or those that like the payments.
I could never afford a new one in years gone by.
Now i can afford one i don't want one,i only buy new to me ones.
I would hate getting scratchtes on it.LOL

4430 John Deere FWA in 1974, traded a 4020 FWA. Got a new tractor every year after that. 4430 plain front, 4630 FWA, 2 more 4430 FWA's. Then started trading....A 4240 for the 4430, several 4440's, 4640, 4840, all FWA's. 1974 was the first new 6600 combine, then new 7700's every other year. Started downsizing in 1980, last new tractor was a plain front 4240, the last year made, farmed with it and a 6600 combine, new the last year made.... until 1992....James

I personally have never had a brand new one. Only brand new one my dad bought was a 1981 Ford 5600. I've still got it and plan to restore it.

The newest one I bought was last year. A NH TB 110 with 403 hours on it.

I never bought a new tractor, but Dad traded his 1938 Allis B for a 1948 Allis B, new mower, new mounted plow, and $675 boot. It was the last new tractor he ever bought and I still have it.

I keep reminding my wife that Deere season is opon us and we sould participate and get a new mid size 3point with loader, she keeps reminding me that we are getting along with what we have. (For Now)

I just finished going through my own Massey Ferguson 150. Complete rebuild from the ground up. It has been in the family for years and always a logging tractor so I decided to redo it and make it all pretty again. My question is where did you get your 150 Medallions? I have searched and searched and cannot find them for sale. I would REALLY appreciate any information on where I could purchase two of them and possibly the original size rear wheels because my grandpa put smaller wheels on it for logging. Thanks a ton!

Those (in picture) are originals.....Came with the tractor when new. I have ONE medallion, from a 150 I parted out a few years ago. Watch Ebay. They show up there from time to time. Or else, contact all the tractor salvage yards you can find and have them watch for a pair.
