OT Grand Ole Opry

Deb and I returned last night from a trip to Nashville. Saturday night we went to the Grand Ole Opry..... our first visit.

Pam Tillis, Lourie Morgan, Bill Andersen, Jim Ed Brown, Carrie Underwood, and a few others were the show.

We had a great time, if you ever get the oportunity to see that show do it.

Glad you enjoyed it. Spent one night in Nashville the day before we got married at Pigeon Forge. Didn't get to the Grand Ole Opry for some reason but saw some open air stuff and went into the wildhorse saloon that evening. Had our wedding rings stolen out of the motel room also.......... Unforgettable trip but fun anyway.

Went to the Opry a couple of times when it was still in the Ryman Auditorium.

Haven't been to the new place.

Let me tell you all about my wife and I going to the Grand Old Opry. I have a friend who works in the television production of the Opry show who got us tickets. We got to go backstage, tour the dressing rooms and did actually get to set in the Church pews on the stage. Man what a show it was. Brad Paisley, Little Jimmy Dickens, Bill Anderson, George Jones, Trace Adkins. It was really a night to remember !!! We had a ball and since we are only about an hour drive north of the Music city we even got home early enough we got to go to Church that next Sunday morning.

Larry If you never been there ya have to make the trip I have been there three times If set up like the last time I was there you walked through OPRYLAND and set in on a recording session full 1 hour show. in the middle of Opryland was an open glass cage with a couple hundred guns that were Roy Acuff's collection So much to see in a short distance. Conway Twitty Has a museum there with 56 T Bird with less than a hundred mile on it on it (TWITTY BIRD) ON THE PLATE.
Many Stars have their own show places like Dolly Wood. Cooters place (from the Duke Boys)some of the actors from that show preform there-- has restaurants and live Shows. And only 12 hours from this end of the State.
See some of the old guys at Cooters

Its been quite a while since Opry land was open, all gone , its Opry Mills now,and most of that is closed on account of the flood

Was thinking of taking the kids down during Easter break for a few days. We were there in 89 for two days but it was during the week so we didn't see a Opry show. The kids are 10,14, 16 and in to country music. Will they be bored? Besides seeing the Opry show what else is there to do? In 89 we just walked through the fancy lobby/atrium of the big hotel because it was too expensive to stay there. We did watch a taping of HeeHaw (which was free). That was neat-too bad its gone.

WOW been awhile for me too but I hated to hear that was gone. I do know there is more left to see in a fairly short distance of driving around the Gatlin drive area than you can shake a stick at.

I hope that gun collection is still available to see somewhere. it was on a high point in the park.

Neat. We have been listening to WSM on-line lately. I remember hearing all those folks were going to be on. Did you make the caverns where the performances are held? Lots of reasons to go there and visit someday and get out of this wretched northeast weather. But not right now! It's way cold, but SUNNY and DRY for a change.
I've plowed three mornings in a row. Starting to make up for not getting any done before now.

I didnt see a gun collection there,We go to Nashville a couple times a year. Years ago I did go to the Roy Acuff museum. Cooters is still there a little south of the Opry House. The Palace has moved a few doors west of where it was.Your right, there is a lot to see in that area.We see something new every time we go.
