If it's your own web site and/or you are selling anything, they frown upon it. If it's to show where to get something or info in regards to a question is OK.

Classic or modern?

Classic, you just paste the URL into "Optional Link URL" and enter a name in "Link Title".

Modern view is a bit trickier. This is one case where newer is not better. The link below will tell you how to do it in Modern.

Creating links in modern view

You make it way too complicated. Just copy the url from the address bar, click on "url" just below the subject line, and then paste.

Lets get a little more basic.

Go to the website you want to link to.
Highlight the name of the website at the top of the page- just single click on it, and it will turn blue.
Type Ctrl C (Copy)
Come back to Ytmag and start your post, and when you get to where you want to put in the link (usually at the end), put your cursor in the Optional URL box.
Type Ctrl V (Paste) The entire name of the website should appear in the box.
Put whatever you want in Link Title box, to describe the link- like Splitting an Allis WD, or whatever.
End your post in the usual way.

If you know the name of the website "by heart", you can skip the copying and pasting, and just type the name of the site in the Optional Link box- but it has to be EXACTLY right, down to the slashes, colons, etc., so I find it to be easier to just copy and paste from where you want the link to go- then you know its right.
