OT Very Sad Day for me !

Because of the economic times I had to sell my tractor.Did not want to ! Wife can't see why I'm so sad , Her words it's just a " tractor " she just doesn't know or understand .It was my Dad's favorite a little 8N,1948 Dad's gone and so is my tractor.

hey, sorry, I have my grandpas old 1939 9N, eyesore, work on it more than it runs, but love it and understand completely, Mark

Wish I had my Dad's '48 8N back, too. He bought it new when he was 17, and plowed terraces for the Soil Conservation Service. I spent a lot of time on that tractor, starting when I was 7 years old. He traded it for a new MF in 1979, which I have now.
Yes, I can relate, to how it is sad to see an old friend go..

Geez, that sucks. I feel your pain, my biz is busted too. Used to love fishing with my son on my small boat. Now cant afford the gas or the parts to fix it. Its sitting in the same spot 2 yrs now get all screwed up.

Pete

Ya probly should have sold her great grand mothers hand made quilts. After all they are just quilts.

That is not good to hear sorry you had to sell it. You might be able to see it now and then if you know where it went, and better yet, when things pickup you may be able to buy it back. Hang in there. Stan

Tony, I feel your pain.
If its not to late be sure to have the serial number of the tractor and the name and address of the guy that bought it. You might get a shot at buying her back someday. Also give him your number and ask him to give you first chance if he ever wants to sell.
I had to do it once to, about 20 years ago. Mark

I know how you feel I had to sell my dads jubile 30 years ago the guy never paid me for it he has since died. The tractor sits in a field rotting away and his son won't sell it to me I offerd himm $3,000 for it. it hurts every time I drive past it.I hope things get better for you and some day you can get another one.

(quoted from post at 19:19:06 03/27/11) Ya probly should have sold her great grand mothers hand made quilts. After all they are just quilts.

And point out that it costs more to keep her around than it did the tractor.
A partner (NOTICE that I didn't say WOMEN Nancy) doesn't have to understand, only accept (within reason). Hope things get better for you.

Dave

that is sad, is it being sold to someone not too far away? Keep track of it , couldnt you have sold some furniture first? Its just furniture, ... best of luck, Larry

Concho, seems you Sure don't know much about how to manage your life, you NEVER let your tractor go, until you see all the Green stuff in your hand....

Send the young man a certified letter, telling him when and how you delivered the tractor to his father, but were never paid anything. That now you insist that it be returned, and you may or may not bill him for damages to it.
However if he returns it within two weeks no charges will be made.
If you don't hear from him in two weeks, go over there with a friend and a trailer, load up the Jubilee and take it home. In this case possesion is 9/10 of the law.
Or if you want to have even more fun, file a motion to have it returned in small claims court.

The problem, GordoSD, is that his last legal means of regaining the tractor expired about 20 years ago. There's a statute of limitations on everything except murder, and on debts not in writing, its usually 3 years or so. Also, many states provide for "adverse possession" of personal property after 10 years or so.

That being said, I would try to bluff him, as you suggested. He may fall for it- or he may lawyer up, and that will be that.

I feel yah.Im starting to sell off my firearms collection so I can do some repairs on my 20ac.horse farm so I can sell it and move back to the city.Thats really gonna suck, but oh well, still got my job and my health.Could be worse.

Tony--
I hear ya'.
I just applied for a line of credit against the equity in my place.

Question: Do you have a trailer and able to come to central IL near Champaign? email me [email protected]
