new to e-mail.thinking of buying 50 jd mt.i been going trhu it but cant get the touch-o-matic to raise up.i think the pump is bad and dont want to try and find a new one.is this hard to change and can i find a new one?i want to work with this tractor but am afraid i'll be fixing thinds all the time.
 
I have had M,MT&40 JD. Never had any hyd problem, except leaking. Are you sure it is full of oil, Did somebody put 80W gear oil in it. Un hook your lift arms from each other, be sure pins are retracted in lift arms. There is two complete circuits in the hyd system. One of them will surely work if the pump is turning. Even if it is worn out, it should lift up a empty. Is it possible that you ran it with the pins in the hitch with the levers in the raised position and burned the pump up? If you did there will be cuttings all through the hyd system,bad deal. There will be pumps for sale on another part of this forum.
 
seller let me go threw tractor before money changed hands.(FATHER-INLAW)I CHANGED plugs and engine oil.drained gas put new in.runs like a champ,been seating outside 3 years.checked gear oil in it but very durdy.drianed and put new in and it wont raise up now.i love this tractor but cant by if i need to put alot of money in it.
