the green stalks of the daffodils came up and then got snowed on then heavy ice,then frozen, and they still managed to bloom

I"m surprised that little buck has antlers so early in the spring. My daffodils are only about 3" high here in upstate Schoharie County, NY.
Three things let me know spring is on its way: the singing of the returning red-winged blackbirds, the daffodils and the red tips of the rhubarb poking up thru the snow.

I havent seen any redwing black birds here in Duanesburg, have you seen any? I had daffodils coming up on ST. Patricks Day, there only 3" now and seened to stop in this 14 degree overnite weather and 30 degree days.

Here in NW Iowa the bulb type plants like that are two inches out of the ground in sheltered areas in town. Not quite as far along as you but still a sign of spring. Jim
