saw this question on one of the other sites ,but I hijacked it and put it on tractor talk in case someone didnt see it over there, Hope they are both ok,really liked seeing them on here, hope they come back soon
I liked reading all the interesting info JD offerd and I really liked his homestead,It seemed to me he lives the life that many of us dream about, As for Allen in NE I havent heard any guitar music in a long time., hope he sends some music soon,

One of these days Larry.

I've had to "recoup" in some areas. "Relearn" as it were.

The muscle memory is still with me, but still attempting to hook up the left brain with the right (improvising).

The medicine has the blood moving again, I feel terrific (best I've ever felt, in fact) and I'm workin' on the cordination as we speak. :>)

Thnaks for the hollar,

Allan

Damn Allen! Glad to see you back! What happened? Sounds like you tried stroken out on us or somthing!!! Glad to you are on the road to recovery.

Darned if I know,

Started noticin' it about 18 months ago. Was losin' little "snippets" perodicly. Just for a second or two; absolutley zero thought.

It got gradually worse and worse and more often until one day I just flat locked up and I ended up in the emergency room. It's a scary feeling when ya can't even remember how to breathe! :>(

Docs say that the vessels in my brain had restricted and were stopping the blood flow.

Allan : Sorry to hear you are down. Was wondering where you and your ih experince were.. Sure miss you comments.. Get well soon Jerry

Allan, I had an inkling you weren't up to snuff but I didn't know what the scoop was. Hope you can get worked back up to the top soon. Best wishes. Jim

John got chased off by a guy who should have kept his keyboard shut.Maybe John is a bit thin skinned at times, but he sure is a blessing to those of us who overlook his short comings. If you are reading this,John, please come back and I'll try to have enough courage to come to your defence the next time instead of sitting here and just saying, oops, there goes my friend again.-----I saw it coming that day.

I missed you too Allen, reading your post and listening to your music. Wishing you the best and a speedy recoverey.

I guess I missed whatever it was that caused Jdemaris to stop participating here, as I havent always had time to check in here every day. As far as I'm concerned he always went out of his way to help anyone, with a combination of knowledge and information he was willing to share, as well as sharing alot of great pictures. I never considered him thin-skinned, but then again maybe thats how some people view not taking alot of guff . Im sure many people would be glad to have him back, I know I would.

Any I will defend John T as having done nothing wrong.
All that happened that day was that JD was acting like a whiny two year old and John T showed how foolish he was acting.

Yes JD has a lot of knowledge and is willing to share it,which I respect greatly, but his "My way or the highway" attitude gets him in trouble in a lot more places than just this site.

Well Alan, here's a get well greeting from Michigan. Spring is just around the corner I hope ya can still get er done! Mark

JON. I just gotta ask you to give me the post date that you claim J de was acting WHINY as a 3 year old. Would like to re- read that. All the time I have read J de's post there never was a "Whiny Attitude' displayed. The point being, If a fellow posts a reply backed up by proof of the subject material, and then have some one try and destroy his response with OUT FACTS,then he would have the right to say. 'The He-- with em ,if they know so much let em have the wheel for a change. " I'm outta here. There are a few here, that fit the description I've given about those who try and bolster their own egos ,to try and put down good informative information that is placed here by guys like Jde. This is just my observation and I'm grateful I had the opportunity to meet with Jde on this forum. LOU.

Jon , John T was not the guilty party and I am not saying.
Not unusual for the brightest and the best to be a Prima Donna in any occupation.Question is are they worth having to have to use kid gloves on them?

Had a close friend that way.Wasn't a thing he didn't know about or nothing he could not do. He wound up shooting himself because the town didn't know how to deal with him. I tried, but there was nothing I could do. Wish that I had spent more time with him now. It was so sad and senseless.

Lou, you can search out the thread as well as I can. It was 3-4 weeks ago, I am not sure which form .
It was one of those endless ignition coil discussions about ignition coils, some needing an external ballast resistor, some not.

My comment in that thread was that there is a false perception that some modern ignition coils have an internal resistor, when in fact they only have a low impedence(1.5 ohm) primary winding or a higher impedence (3 ohm) primary winding, there is no actual resistor inside the coil.
To use the low impedence coil on 12V, you need to use an external ignition resistor (1.5 ohm), while the coil with a 3 ohm primary winding does not need an external resistor as the 3 ohm prinary winding can absorb 12V alone.

JD then posted that I was wrong because a coil primary winding has resistance, therefore it is a resistor.
John T then posted that JD claiming that a coil of wire is a resistor because it has some resistance was a foolish incorrect statement, and John T calmly explain why in their next 2-3 posts.
If you read the thread you will plainly see that on this one, instead of being his usual helpful self, JD was not there to help or add useful info to the thread, he was there to start an arguement and win.

Thanks for the comment MSB. I thought the blowout was because of the arguement between JD and John T.
If another was picking on JD for no good reason at another time, I did not know about it.
Sorry if I misunderstood what caused JD to stop posting. I agree, the site is poorer without him.
He knows a great deal about many things and is willing to share it for no gain to himself.

Allen, I knew you were not well, but not what was wrong. I hope you recover fast. I have a touch of that, but, the Dr.s can't find anything wrong. About JD, I Don,t remember the post, but hope he comes back. Everyone on here adds something. I don't think I have offended anyone here, but if I have, I'm sorry. There may be a couple, but I don't think most people on here try to offend others. I know some are more sensative (sp), than others, I think most of the time remarks are taken wrong. I'll get off my soapbox now. Have a great day.

I tend to agree with you... JD is a very knowledgeable guy and he does share that quite willingly... but he's had his share of arguements on here with me and others...
I know there's been some things said to him that were well below the belt... but generally speaking, if you want to stand and argue, you better be ready to take some crap.
His knowledge is missed, but that's his choice. I don't think we need more censorship here from the PC police. They already censor far more than needs censorship.
Exactly what the arguement was about that day... I no longer recall... but it doesn't really seem all that significant to me in the larger scheme of things.

The coil with an internal resistor is a fable. There is no room in the coil case for a resistor.A 40 watt resistor is about 3 inchs long. The coil could not take the heat from the resistor.Since the coil is operating in an ac circuit we have to call it impedance.A 12 volt coil will need a change in wire size or turns of wire.A speaker with 8 ohms impedance will measure 3 to 4 ohms DC resistance.I retired from electronics at 65 and at 73 much of the knowledge is fading away.I note that smart people can be very touchy and will explode when they are proven wrong. One fellow posted that he ran a tractor for 5 years with a dead alternator and didnt fix it until the bearings locked up and ruined the belt.I said that good mechanics wouldnt do this, I knew that he had done tv service work. You had to do good work on color sets. There was no room for shoddy work.

I was reading the thread that I think was the last straw for JD and I must come to his defense. We all are opinionated and sometimes respond in less than a kind way but the poster that on this forum accused JD of having a criminal record was way over the top, even if it were found to be true , there is no justification for making it public record, I think that it was put out out there for impacts sake, you know, build yourself up by tearing someone else down. I'm quite sure that all of us have things in our past that we would not like posted in a world wide open venue. Also the young child of JD was attacked for having hair longer than one poster cared for. You guys may defend this type of behavior but I cannot stand by and allow one of the more intelligent and studied contributors to be villified without responding in his defense. The internal resistance debate is a real dumb one as the term resistance probably should be used instead of resistor, then there would be no argument. mEl
