JD 530 balers

JD 430/530 were JD first really good rd balers. They are getting old as there were built in the early 80's. JD rd baler design has changed but very little up through the 458/568 models. 530's only have a single tie arm which in my opinion puts twine on the bale more even than twin twine arms but a lot slower. Older JD rd balers can give bale starting problems if the edge of the rectangular bar is worn down on the steel starting roller or the forming belts have the treads too worn out.

I"ve got a 430, makes a pretty nice looking and dense bale. The square bars on the feed roller are easily fixed. Belts are expensive and being good (equal length and not worn down too far is important). Mine was modified by the previous owner to do dual twine, has an offshoot on the twine arm about 4 inches to the right or rear of the baler to put the extra twine on; works ok and speeds things up.

Our old 430 is pretty reliable, not too complicated to work on. They are just a little slower to bale with compaired to a net wrap. I usually avarage around 10 bales an hour depending on the terrain and windrow size.
I have mosty hilly area.

Sometimes i squeeze a few extra out on flat ground.
