Oh yes spring is in the air? The crocus's are croking, the robins are in denile, the worms are still hunkered down below the frost, the wind is russling the tree limbs, and the snow muffles all the sounds, except the thunder of the snow plows grinding on the pavement and crashing across frost heaven roads. Ah yes, spring is so sweet. You just can't beat living in Central NY. Oh well maybe tomarrow. The Acg.

MUDDY, with ocasional clouds and sun.Temps are suppose to warm a bit this week, in the 40s but stormy most of the week. I live 14m due west of Jimmy on US20. Give me a shout here later this week for an update. The Acg.

Yeah, gotta love that global warming. It looks like that up here which is due north of you guys, too. The only good thing about winter is spring. Trouble is... the first day of spring and the first spring day can be a long ways apart up here.

Are those raised garden beds? Aren't you glad you put those in? Cause now, you can see where the garden is supposed to be, and go ahead and plant. Otherwise, you'd have to wait 'till ice-out.

"This, too, shall pass. . ."

I live a little farther west in Naples . It was raining at the foot of the hill and snowing on top . A perfect spring day for an Eskimo .

Come on up about the first of January, you might like it, and then again you might not. Up here snow is about the only thing that they don't tax.

Yes they are raised beds. We have used this method for nearly 15 years now. Weed control is very easy, soil managment can be taylored to each crop, and we can concentrate plant population for max yield per sq. ft. We are also growing more climbing/vertical crops with simple trellises in boxes. We haven't bought vegies at a store for several years. We can, freeze, and cold store our produce. This year we are hopeing to sell enough produce to offset our planting, canning, and freezing costs. I am also planning to try growing black berries in old car tires this year. The area between the boxes has black plastic under about 2-3" of colorful river washed #2 stone which restricts weed growth, and stablizes ground temp. We don't have a green house, but one of my 1st cousins runs a comercial greenhouse operation just a few minutes drive from me.
Pic was taken last summer, on the west side of the garden building. That's the chief Cook and Bottle washer in the pic. LOL

I dare not show my garden. do you have hog weed [some call it wire weed] deadly nightshade [black berries]or paddy melons. these are prevalent this year after the abundance of water.

You going to MacFaddens on Saturday? I plan on going. You can try calling me, Im not sure if I get reciption out there though.

No. My boss has scheduled every weekend right through Fathers Day at home shows to display our wares. I told him to forget Fathers Day, I was going to Sunnycrest.
