Too many bulls

Anybody in Michigan looking for a good 6 year old registered Angus bull? I nodded when I shouldn't have at the tested bull sale. I went to buy one, bought the tenth one out out of 74. Couldn't load til the sale was over,so I sat right there. Nodded on a few just to help the auctioneer out when they got stuck. By the 45th one,I don't know if some young thing bent over or what, nobody was paying any attention when the only ChiAngus on the sale came out. Nothing had been selling under $2500 or so,most were up in the 3 and 4000 range. They got stuck at $2000 on this one, couldn't get $2,250. I was sitting right on the end of the bleachers at eye level with the ringman. He asked me for 21,so I nodded, figured for sure the other bidder would go again, but he didn't. So....I suppose,I might as well sell this 6 year old New Frontier.
Sure hate to beef him,he's a heck of a nice bull.

Got the same kinda poblem around here. Lately we've been havin a lot more bulls then heifers. Take em to auction and see what you can get for him.

I'm afraid it's gonna come to that if I don't get rid of him in the next few weeks. Big as he is,I don't really want him in the bull pen with those smaller bulls for what I've got into them. I'm afraid he'll kill'em.
Cass City sold bulls as high as .96 this week. They were saying Croswell was as high as 1.01. That makes a 2000 pound bull worth two grand. I'd take that for him where he stands to keep from putting a darned good bull on a hook.
Hard to find a good Angus service bull for less that $3000 right now.

Kind of a change of thread. we are in the middle of flushing one of our cows.I have laughed and said it is ET by committee. I picked bull to use. The owner of the dairy where she is milked. Gave drug shots and inseminated her. Using three straws of semen Son and a friend sync ten heifer to be at the same period in there cycle as the donor cow Vet will flush and transfer the embryo's Tuesday. The old gal gave 31,000 lbs of milk the bull we are using dam milked over 31,000 also. hope for a bunch of heifers,

We have a few registered bulls we're takin to a sale in a few weeks. Ones a year and a 2 months I believe and the others a September so I hope you're right about that 3000. That would be a nice little chunk of change to get.

I would imagine they'll have the results of the sale on the Michigan Cattlemens website sometime after tomorrow,micattlemen.org. They should have the average on there. There was only one that brought less than 2000 as far as I know. There was a black bull that only weighed 788 that brought $1600. I thought for sure he was gonna sell for $1400 the way they were going.
Even the Herefords were high. There were 4 of'em and the first one out brought $5000 and went all the way to South Dakota. A guy just east of town bought the last one and gave $2300 for it.
Red bulls were high as a kite. Red Sims were bringing 3500 or so. Red Angus were the same way.

SOO YOUR THAT GUY AT THE SALES. We have an old duffer(70+) in my area that goes to sales and does that just bids to raise the price. Well one day a 9600 deere combine was going to cheap for him and he raised a young fellow(about 25) a bid, the kids dad says let him have it hes been trying to buy something all day. I was never happier than to see someone spend 42000 on something they didnt want and had no intention of using. Also happens at cattle sales around here all the time too, personally it just pi$$e$ me off. Thanks for the opportunity to rant.

I wish you were closer, good Angus bulls are in short supply here. I bought 1 last fall and a young bull a couple of months ago. I wish I had bought 2 more.

I've seen that happen alot at the Sheriton Sales. They always seem to have someone to open the bid at the minimum price to make sure they at least get that.

If I can't pay for it,can't use it or make a buck on it,I don't bid. I'm not the kind to claim I didn't bid when I get stuck with something. At that price,I figured I could salvage my old bull and get my money back. The more I sat there and thought about it,the more the idea of two sounded good to me. Granted,I was waiting for some red ones to come through, but if I had,I wouldn't have bought two of'em. They sold up in the 3500 range. I'm not kicking myself. Who knows,I might have gotten the buy of the day? I bid 21 on a few before I bought that one,but they ended up at around 25.

Why would you want a red one when black calves bring more per lb? At least down in Texas.
