water pump rebuild on H

It is not easy to do and on all of them water pumps in general I have broken the pump housing. I have found most of the time in the long run it is better to buy one that is rebuilt then to try to rebuild one your self unless you have all the correct tools for the job

I dont seem to reacll a need to press anything to take them apart. (Maybe thats why others who think they know what they are doing break them. I know someone who doesnt know how to adjust a carb correctly, so maybe he doesnt know how to dissaemble a Farmall H waterpump either.) Which part are you trying toget apart?

After getting the driver off, packing nut then the nut with only two machined side on it you just bump the hub off housing. Then you can just knock the seals and bearing out of hub. The parts that need to be pressed would be the rear half of the pulley if you need to replace the adjustable pulley. There is a pin to knock out before pressing pulley off though. If you were completely rebuilding it you would press the center part that contains the bushings and packings out. IH never supplied seperate bushings for an H , they did on the M. On the H you replaced the whole tube with bushing in it. I think you would have a problem finding the correct bushings though as the inner one has a shoulder and outer one has a chamfer for packings. Just replacing the seals and bearing is no big deal though if you are lucky enough that bushings and impeller are ok.

After taking main nut off the top (the one with 2 flat spots for a wrench) get under the pulley with a couple pry bars and pry it up from the housing over the tube. Knock the bearings and oil seals out with a hammer and punch.
Good Luck and be careful. They do break easily.
