Allis Chalmers 7045-powershift transmission

Heard that it can cost nearly $10,000 for a transmission rebuild in this vintage machine. Might bring decent money by parting out the good parts such as the engine and getting scrap price for the rest. Just requires some labor and finding a buyer.
 
Cost of repair will vary depending on where you get it fixed and whether or not it has a cab. The machine is worth between 7 - 13K, depending on condition. The early powershifts are fairly simple, but repairing them may be difficult if the parts are a problem. I'd check with AGCO first before you buy and ask for a ballpark cost... however be prepared to pay a bunch. The 10k figure is a bit on the high side but certainly not out of the realm of the possibility...and some AGCO dealers just don't want to mess with the old AC iron..
 
Neighbor has one and his is slipping and the dealer told him the cost to repair it was more then the tractor is worth because you never know what you will find when you get inside.
 
got enough major parts to do two powershifts came out of 7060's. maybe we could put them to good use
