Recently bought a Wheel Horse C122 which ran fine when I got it, I used it when I got it home and the next day it wouldn't start. The guy i got it from said that sometimes the fuel pump had to be removed and the plunger on the diaghram had to be moved up and done, tried several times with no luck, shot some gas into the carb and it starts and runs on whatever gas got into carb. I'm thinking the fuel pump is bad, any help woujld be great thanks

Check the fuel filter & blow the line back to the tank first, I have an A800 that requires this now & again.
Main problem with Wheelhorse pumps is the valves, some models have replaceable valves others don't. Pull the pump off & test it in a bucket of water. If it doesn't pump, try priming it &, if it then pumps OK, then the valves need looking at ( if possible). On my C120, I replaced the mechanical pump with an old car electric pump which has been fine for 6 years now.

I have had a C120 since 1983, ran it for 30 years before it needed an overhaul. The first time the fuel pump went bad I got a new set of diapragms for about $8.00 to fix it. Last time two years ago no parts available, had to replace the pump cost $70--RIP-OFF!!! I like your electric pump idea-lots cheaper.

I have owned a WH C175 for about 30 years. You can get a lot of information from this Wheel Horse forum--it is called "RedSquare"---copy and paste------------http://whtractor.15.forumer.com/index.php?

Thanks to all for the fuel pump problem advice, now solved. The former owner had tinkered with many things that were part of the problems, losse coil wire connection, battery connection, fuel supply side of the fuel pump was losse by three turns, carb settings were off. After tightening and adjusting things tractor is running great

(quoted from post at 00:27:49 03/17/11) If you use an old car fuel pump it must be a vvery low pressure pump.

Mine was an SU pump from a 1970's Mini. I don't know if they ever sold over there (you'd fit one on the bonnet, sorry "hood", of most American cars of the period!). Same pump probably on the Austin Healy Sprite & MGB's which did sell in US.

hey thanks for the information. I rebuilt the fuel pump and the tractor is running perfectly.
with regard to bonnet vs hood, I have had MGTCs, MGAs, MGBs, Triumphs and Sunbeam Tiger, love the terminalogy.
