I have a 1568 v-8 with twin tubo chargers, white cab, 5020 hours and no dents or scratches on the metal. Is this tractor worth restoring myself, or is it more valuable to sell as is?

Will bring about same the way it is.They are only original once and some people no matter how nice you did it would find something they wouldnt like. The 68 series, any gold demos,1206 ,1456,and older tractors with coleman front ends are in demand.I dont think there were very many produced.Personally their lower road speed and the V-8s reliabilty were issues but for collecting and parades they are pretty cool.

If its in good shape you'll never recover the cost of the restoration. You could easily spend $6K to $10k on a restoration and only increase your sales price by $2000 to $5000.

There were only 862 1568s made. And i'll bet that only a hand full of them are fittied with the after market twin turbos from M and W. If i was you i would not even consider selling it. If this tractor is in the shape you say it is in then it is easly worth $25 000! If you restore it and do it right you can put another $10 000 on the asking price and its still wourth it and i don't care what anybody says! PERIOD. I know of 2 1568s that are for sale and both tractors are priced over $40 000. The down fault with the 15s was the 3 speed tranny, but to a collector that don't matter. Personally i would hang onto it if i were you. Heres my 1468 and ill never sell it.

It's tough to come out ahead restoring to sell.

Return on investment is somewhere in the 50% area, so you would practically have to have gotten the tractor for FREE to come out ahead on the deal.

The only reason to restore a tractor is to enjoy it for yourself. Otherwise, sell it as-is. If it's mechanically sound, has decent tires, and isn't beat to pieces, it's worth just as much now as it would be with a fresh coat of paint, maybe more. When you paint a tractor, people suspect you're trying to cover something up.

BUY IT. A farm locally has a 1468 with the twin M&W twin turbos. That thing is a frekin monster!!!!

For a collector or someone who just wants one they want to see it in her working cloths. Unless you are willing to spend big money on it and make it better than new, Just clean her up alittle. Dont go crazy. If you have taken care of her it will show and who ever is looking at it will know how you took care of it. My dad had a 1568 that he sold that I am trying to get back. I dont know why. If the sheet metal is good and paint is good and good tires I would say as it sits $10 to $18000 if its good. You have to remember there were only 862 built and maybe 1/2 are still running. Bandit

The twin turbos are not a plus at all. These engines were not made to handle the turbos and would knock the rear main out. Usually will bring less with the after market turbos because of this problem.
