Mower Deck Spray Question

Got the deck of the mower to rebuild the thing. Going to clean it up real good and want to spray oaub the underside of the deck. Have read on here about a spray that bonds with the rust to neutralise it, Wonder what it is called. Can never get the deck clean enough with the wire wheel in the grinder or drill, and thought this might help before spraying on the slip deck or slip plate. Have tried it before, but didn't have much luck with it staying on. Anybody have any other ideas?

I buy a can of spray at Tractor Supply. Called MO Deck or something like that. Clean underneath and spray. Helps some. Guess if I would only mow when it is good and dry that would help as well.

I have tried just about everything---Wire brushing and applying RustOleum primer paint with a brush works better for me then the most expensive "rust converter"

I got some rust converter fron Napa. Just brush it on. I then brush prime it and paint with silver paint. Seems to work well enough. In order for the rust converter to work well you do need to get it cleaned up well. From what I"ve seen a wire brush just polishes the rust. The rust converters don"t penetrate you need it as clean as possible.

I just last fall wire wheeled mine and then bought a can of Duplicolor's bed liner that I rolled on. I only mowed twice after that.

I just put a couple of coats of Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer on mine and then a color coat. Slow to cure but very tuff stuff.

I have tried graphite paint but it wore off quickly. Last fall when I was done with the mowers I cleaned them good and put on a coat of Fluid Film. I did a Internet search and got a number off hits saying the stuff works good on the bottom of decks. I have used it for 20 years on other things, that wool lanolin has a weird way of creeping into the pores off steel for as thick as it is. Mark

OSPHO is the name brand of the rust killer...it turns rust into a phosphate coating...you need to get all the loose stuff off first...it works great...2 thin coats is better than 1 heavy coat.
