Superior just broadcast the Great Lakes Beef Connection bull sale from Clare. I'd thought about going, but really planned to go next week to the MCA/MSU Tested Bull Sale in Crystal since that one is only a few miles away.
The ones today averaged over $2700 with the top at $12,000. Seventen of them went to California, but toward the end, some good black bulls sold right down around $1600. It was too late to register for unline bidding by the time they got down there.
A day late and a dollar short as usual.

Work a bull sale in Corisica SD a couple weeks age. Do not know what the average was, but the top bull sold for $15,000.

Guess that's why so many from here went west. They sold 73 of'em all totaled. I hope enough locals bought their fill so the price isn't outrageous next week. That one isn't being broadcast, but they usually have out of state phone buyers.

Ive been a little suprised that bull prices arent any higher than they have been here, especially since I needed to pick up 4 bulls! Went to three sales so far and felt like things sold about as they normally would. Averages have been around $2750. Bought a Upward son and a Net Worth son for what was less than I would have guessed with the cattle market being so high. Had to pay more than I thought for a Reflection son for a heifer bull so I guess it averages out. One more sale to go and I need one more bull.

I just wonder if it's because there isn't any herd expansion going on? Geez,at $1600 on some of those bulls today, that's just pennys more than I've been getting for fat steers.
