Tractor Seat Springs.

I bought a large lawn Tractor some time ago and the previous owner installed a custom seat with "leaf Springs" The springs set the seat too high and I was wondering what damage would be done if I were to heat the springs ---in a small section---and compress the seat in a lower position.
I am guessing this would ruin the springs but would like some opinions.

Don't heat the springs. Bend them cold. That will maintain the original strength. New springs are made from flat stock and are bent to the proper arch in a press.
